This award, first given in 2016, was created to honor long-time members and to express grateful appreciation for their dedicated service and lifetime contributions to the Intermountain Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
H. Terry Smith, PE, PTOE
Terry joined ITE and began attending the Intermountain Section meeting in 1980. He began helping the Plines and their cohorts with registration in the late 80s and served on the Section Board from 1989 through 1993 (President in 1992). In 2000, after serving on the board, he began volunteering as an advisor to that same board. He spent countless hours on conference calls with the Board throughout the years and also sat in on the annual officer’s meeting during the Vendor Social on Friday afternoon in Jackson. Terry's presence in those meetings provided a critical level of continuity and historical perspective for an ever-changing leadership group that only met a few times each year. He has a fantastic memory and a knowledge of the Intermountain Section that is unmatched by more than a handful of venerable folks that still attend the meeting each year. His selfless service and dedication has been invaluable in helping to make and keep the Intermountain Section Annual Meeting in Jackson the best ITE conference in the country. Thank you H. Terry Smith for your service to the Section.
